Candy 2

Meet Candy, a darling 1 year old yellow female purebred Labrador. Candy is a smaller gal at only about 55 pounds and has a pretty face and beautiful yellow color.

Candy is a medium energy Labrador who is great with all other dogs and loves people. She is pretty mellow for a one year old girl, but she is still a puppy in Lab years, so she will need a home where her new owner will provide good daily exercise and some additional training.

Candy came to us when her family turned her into the a high-kill shelter because they were moving.  We were notified about her plight so we immediately planned to rescue her.

Candy has wonderful temperament and great potential. She is completely housebroken and never even had one accident in her foster home.  She is really a pretty gentle girl with calm temperment.  Candy does really well on leash - rarely pulling, but also responds really well to correction when needed.

Candy does great with other dogs - she sometimes just ignores other dogs, so would likely do well in a home with or without another doggie companion.

Candy loves her person and would enjoy lots of affection from her new family.  In fact, she loves to be brushed - it might just be her favorite thing ever!

Candy is a sensitive girl who is a little tentative in new environments.  It is possible Candy was hit at some point in her previous home as she does startle and sometimes duck with quick movements towards her.  For this reason, we think Candy will do best in a home with children over age 9.

Candy is a very healthy girl who is up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped.

Now all she needs is her forever home!  If you think this is the girl for you, be sure to complete an application and then send an email to indilabgirl@gmail.com

Lorna adoption pending!

Introducing Miss Lorna! Lorna is a show-quality Lab. She is a stunningly gorgeous purebred white English female of just about 75 lbs. and 3 years. She is a medium sized bench bred Lab with a nice head and perfect otter tail. She really is a pretty little thing!

Lorna came to us from a very high kill Inland Valley shelter the same day we found Mullin. Both dogs came home with us the same day!

Lorna is a sweet wiggly girl. She loves every person she meets and is very velcro. She loves to be with her person. She is a very loving little gal!

Lorna is great with other dogs but tends to be a tad dominant. She'll do great with almost any dog and in the home she just likes to be the first lady and then makes firends with all the other dogs. See her video below. She loves other dogs but just wants to be the most populat. She does wonderfully with at least 9 other dogs she has met and is doing great in her foster home with Mulligan, a former Indi Lab male Lab.

Lorna settles beautifully in the house after her exercise. She is a medium energy Lab and loves her walks. She needs a nice walk once or twice a day and she settles nicely inside. She is not destructive and is trustworthy in the house.

Lorna will do great with kids age 5 and over. She wiggles a lot and probably will knock toddlers over.

Lorna is a darling girl. She's a show quality girl who is a show stopper as people pass her.

Lorna is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.

if you are approved and feel this girl is right for you, please email donna@indilabrescue.org

Red (puppy) adoption pending!

Meet Red! Red is an adorable purebred chocolate Lab puppy. He's just 9 months old and is the son of Bruce (also available for adoption).

Red's adorableness is a result of a young Bruce jumping the fence to be "friendly" with the next door neighbors purebred chocolate female Labrador. (Yet another reason not to wait to alter our Labradors!). Bruce is a purebred English Lab and Red's mommy is a petite chocolate more American Lab. The result is our in-betweener Red the wonder pup!

Red comes to us from the same loving owner who brought us Bruce. As previously stated, the family had found themselves in a situation which prevented them from keeping the boys. Though devastated, their owner wanted the best for Red and his papa and we promised them we would only choose the very best home in the world for each of these deserving sweet hearts.

Red is a typical Labby puppy - happy, bright, wants to please, and likes to have a wiggling good time. He's wonderful with all dogs and amazing with kids. Though he is tolerate with toddlers, he is probably best suited to a home with older children so that the most amount ot attention can go to him for his training and love. After all, he is a youngin' and as such we want him to grow to be the best dog he can be!

Red has a lovely Labrador temperament. He is amazing with ALL people, ALL dogs, and good about sharing toys and food. He's also doing great on leash though he can pull. After all he is still learning.

His new owners should do a nice puppy or beginning obedience class with him to learn the basics. Red will surely be the star of the class.

He needs plenty of exercise as all Lab puppies do and he would love another friendly canine companion if you are to be away from home much.

Red should go to dog park and dog beach to continue his socialization with other dogs since he is doing so well.

Currnetly still on the smaller side, Red will grow to be a medium sized Labrador. He has an easy going calm demenor under his puppy personality and he will grow up to be a medium energy adult. However at this time he is still a puppy so lots of activity!

Red is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.

If you are approved and feel that you have the time, patience, and energy for a puppy, please contact IndiLabGirl@gmail.com

Bruce adoption pending!

Sir Bruce is big soft chocolate labby of only 2 1/2 years.  He is AKC registered and ready to be loved. Bruce is a beautiful dog. He is an English Lab and has a gorgeous block head.

This boy is a real cuddle bug. He would love to be a lap dog! He loves people so much and is just a joy to have.

He had a loving home but unfortunately his former family could not keep him due to circumstances behond their control. He was raised with children and is a good candidate for familise with kids. He can even go with toddlers. He is a fabulous family member he loves children!

Bruce also gets along very well with other dogs and is doing great with his terrier foster sister.

He has beautiful perfect breed standard eyes of the lightest yellow green (Labrador burnt sugar) and at times looks like he is smiling.

He spent his first few years living outside, but now given the chance he really likes indoors and has mastered housebreaking in one day.  He does expecially well with free access inside and out via a doggie door.  He's a good boy and settles beautifully in the house.

Bruce has that traditional lab vigor when eating and drinking often leaving trails of water in is path in true lab fashion!  He loves retrieving true to his nature and seems to be very fond of bones for chewing.

Still a little bit of a puller on walks, he does best with a harnass collar.  He is ready to be a loyal and delightful member just needs a family.

Bruce has just been neutered, is up to date on all his shots and already micro-chipped.

If you feel this boy is right for you and you have been approved to adopt, please send an email to his foster mom at ridgeclan@gmail.com

Mullin adoption pending!

Meet Mullin!  Mullin is a darling yellow male Lab of 4-5 years old.  Mullin is at a perfect weight of 80 pounds and is a golden yellow or fox red color.

Mullin is pretty close to perfect!  He has a gorgeous blocky head and is at his perfect weight of 80 pounds.  Just look at his beautiful face!

Mullin came to us from one of the highest kill shelters in California.  We met this sweet boy and knew instantly that he was coming home with us!  He gets along great with other dogs!  He rode in the car from the shelter with another female labbie and the two got along great together!  And Mullin gets along great with his foster labbie sister too!

Mullin is completely housebroken and overall a pretty mellow boy.  He loves to just lay next to his foster mom, sometimes prefers the chair or the couch, and does not need his crate at all.  He is non-destructive when left alone too!

Mullin also has some great training!  He knows how to sit, lay down, and knows stay all on command - what a smart boy!  Someone spent some time training this boy, so his new family will benefit from his knowledge!

Mullin is a little mouthy when he takes treats, but is learning from his foster mom to take treats more gently.

Mullin pulls on leash a little bit, but corrects well.  With just a little more training, he will learn to walk right next to his person really well.

With some great training and his mellow temperment, Mullin is a great choice for many families.  He will do great with another doggie companion, or as your one and only boy.

Mullin is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  He is now just looking for his forever home.

If you think Mullin is the boy for you, be sure to complete an application and follow up with an email to indilabgirl@gmail.com

Roxy 6 adoption pending!

Meet Roxy, a 10 month old purebred chocolate girl.  This puppy is a playful fun gal with tons of love to share!

Roxy came to us when her family lost their home. It was hard for them to say goodbye to this good girl, but they wanted what was best for her given that their lives had changed and they were no longer able to keep Roxy.

This sweetie is still a puppy who needs plenty of dog park to play with other dogs, and lots of fun acitivites. She loves to please and is a joy to be with. Her new owners will want to provide continued training and socialization and also lots of exercise as all young Labs require.

Since she is still a pup, she is still mouthy and probably is best not placed with young children.  She will do great with older children however and seems to really like kids and all people!

Rosy loves other dogs and she met her first kitty today, and now gives them a wide berth, although she'd probably chase one if it ran.  She seems to generally like cats and will ignore them or even be timid around them unless she thinks they will be playful and will certainly chase a cat who allows that.

Roxy is learning her leash manners and so far is staying right along side her foster mom.  Her foster mom is giving her leash lessons as she had terrible leash manners on her arrival.

In true Labby fashion, Roxy loves to chase a ball and retrieve! Roxy also loves to play with her foster's very dominant female and is happy to be the submissive girl.

She isn't a barker, and only barks when there is something to bark about, or when she is trying to get your attention.

Roxy knows her commands and sits and shakes.

Roxy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and looking for her new forever home! If you are approved and ready to adopt a young darling and fun active Lab, please shoot an email to scartersoo@mac.com

Maya 3 adoption pending!

Meet Maya 3, a darling AKC registered purebred female. Maya is a pretty yellow girl of 5 years and is as sweet as they come. She comes with her pedigree. Though she is a purebred lab, she has a slight curl to her tail. But we think it is adorable and makes her even more darling!!! What a dream girl she is.

Maybe is wonderful with all people and all dogs. She loves everyone and every dog she meets. Walking her is such a pleasure as she passes other dogs so nicely and says hello to everyone.

Maya has a known history with little children and toddlers, therefore we can adopt her into a home with little ones.

We do not know about cats so no kitties for Maya.

Maya is a chunky girl at about 85 lbs. She really should be more like 75 lbs. Her new family should plan on doing nice walks with Maya and keeping her food to a mininum to continue her weigh loss routine. In the meantime there is just more Maya to love. Her new owners must be careful not to overdo it with Maya as she loses weight.

Maya is housebroken and non-destructive in the home. She is not a chewer or barker at all. She is very relaxed in the house and settles beautifully.

Maya LOVES her walks more than anything. When you get her leash she gets very excited. She also loves swimming. She will adore a kiddie pool if you don't have a real pool and loves going to dog beach. If you are looking for a water dog, this one is it!

Maya came to us when her owner was no longer able to care for her in the manner in which she had always been cared for. Her former family loved Maya very much and took excellent care of her. Maya especially loved the 2 little children in the home and they adored her as well.

We are looking for a wonderful, dream forever home for Maya. We promised her former mom that we would only pick the best of the best for this special girl. We anticipate a lot of interest in Maya since she is so good with little kids. Please understand that we will look at who is best for Maya first and then at how long families have been waiting to adopt.

Maya is spayed, up to date on vaccination, and healthy.

If you think this sweet girl is right for you, please be sure you are already approved to adopt and then follow up with an email to donna@indilabrescue.org

Samantha adopted!

Meet Samantha the sweetheart. Samantha is a purebree yellow 2 - 3 year old Labrador with a pretty face and a darling smile.

Samantha came to us from a high kill shelter where her owners had turned her in becuae they did not want her anymore. Her owners claimed that she had potty accidents and that she had too much energy for them so they decided to put her in a shelter where, without rescue, she would have lost her life. Bascially what ther owners said between the lines was that they didn't care about her at all.

Ends up Samantha is a calm girl who is pretty much housebroken almost after only 2 days. Seems to us that her owners never had her in the house before as she did not even know what a house was.

When we picked her up, she was petrified and covered in feces and urine. She was absolutely confused about what had happened to her and it was heartbreaking. After a good grooming, and good food and comfy bed and lots of love, this beauty is a different dog. She loves toys, loves her foster Labby brother and loves life.

Samantha is a velcro dog meaning she wants to be right with her person. She is amazing with all other dogs big and small and she is wonderful on the leash. She VERY much wants to please and has learned so much in her brief stay with us. To think her original owners had even one small complain is beyound understanding. She is that good.

Samantha is not destructive in the house and is pretty much housebroken now. Of course any dog can have an accident in a new environment. She will need to learn her new home, doggie door, and routine like all dogs must.

She will do beatifully with another friend canine companion as she loves other dogs. And she is a youngster so we would love her to have a home with lots of toys and some nice trips to dog park or dog beach now and then.

This medium energy girl is slightly on the chunky side. She will lose a few pounds easily with regular leash walks. She is a pleasure to walk so this will be great fun for her and her new owners.

Samantha is a family dog so she will do well with the elerly, seniors, and little kids. We do not know about cats though so we will not be placing her with them at this time.

Samantha is healthy, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. If you feel this girl is right for your famly, and you have been approved to adopt, please email donna@indilabrescue.org for more info.

Cubby 2 adopted!

Meet Cubby!  Cubby is a sweet 10 month old yellow male Lab.  Since he is a still a puppy, he has more growing to do.  Cubby is currently about 60 pounds, and will likely be more like 80 pounds when he is full grown.

Cubby came to us with his mother Shalom who has already been adopted. They somehow ended up in a high-kill shelter in California and we were informed about their sad plight. Immediately we made plans to rescue both Mama and baby.

It is clear that Cubby did not have much except his mother in his previous home. When he came to us, he had no idea how to play, he dropped yummy marrow bones out of his mouth, and had no idea what to do with a doggie toy.  We are happy to say that Cubby is now happily playing with his foster labbie sister, enjoying a marrow bone in his foster home, and just learning how fun doggie toys can be.

Cubby is a goofy, labby boy.  He is still getting his feet under him, so he can be a bit clumsy at times.  And sometimes he doesn't remember he has grown and he forgets that his is now a big dog.  Although we think this makes him all the more entertaining!

Cubby does not know how to play fetch, and if you throw a frisbee, he will look at you to go get it yourself.  But he does enjoy chasing his foster sister around the yard and playing tug of war with her.  We would love for this boy to continue with some fun doggie play dates in his new home, trips to dog park where he can play with other dogs, or even another doggie companion around his size in his new home.

Cubby a medium energy boy and is great with all other dogs, although sometimes his goofy nature and forgetting his larger size, he can play a little much with a much smaller dog.  Although he would never harm a smaller dog, Cubby's play is likely a better fit for bigger dogs.

Cubby is fabulous on leash!  He doesn't pull and is content walking right in stride with his person - regardless of the pace.  He will walk nicely, or even pick up a jog with you if you desire. Cubby also does well off leash staying right with his person, so he would be a great dog to take hiking or to doggie beach.

Mostly Cubby loves attention and affection from his people.  He loves to be pet and loved on.  Cubby is starting to learn his commands of sit and down.  He will do them for treats, although often prefers a pat on the head from his person and positive reinforcement as opposed to the treat - silly boy.  Cubby would do great at a doggie obedience class and with continued training from his new family - he is still a puppy of course!

Cubby is housebroken, however he hasn't yet learned to inform his person when he needs to go outside.  So having a door open for regular access to the yard, or being let out often will be good for this boy.  He only had one accident in his foster home.

Cubby is your typical labbie boy who wants to be where you are and will follow you from room to room. He wants to sleep in the same room with you and will settle right down on a doggie bed near you.  If you prefer him to sleep outside your bedroom, that will require some training (as with most labs) - they want to be with you.

Cubby is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and now ready to find his forever home.

If you think this is the boy for you, be sure to complete an application and send an email to indilabgirl@gmail.com

Coffee adopted!

Meet Coffee. A stunningly gorgeous purebred English blocky female Labrador. Chocolate in color with a gorgeous head, conformation, and the best temperament around, This beauty is lookin' for love. Will you be the one to win her heart?

Beautiful Coffee is a super soft-coated, dark chocolate colored lovely girl, and is only 5 years old.  She is submissive, soft-mouthed and very loving.  Coffee is a nice sized Bench Bred Lab - she weighs about 72 pounds. Coffee came to us when she was retired from a show and breeding program.  So at the young age of 5, we were able to help this girl find a new, loving forever home she so deserves!

Coffee is a medium energy girl who loves other dogs and playing with them at times. But also she settles down great on her favorite spot (her doggie bed), and will happily relax for hours. Outside she would enjoy her daily walks and some time with her family just getting love and attention.  She does not have any interest in playing fetch, but does enjoy her soft squeaky dog toys. She loves attention and will do best in a home where she isn't the only dog left alone for long hours. This is a companion Lab in every sense of the word.

Coffee would be a wonderful choice for a family with children due to her extremely gentle nature and sweet personality. However, she could still knock a toddler down, so only children age 4 and over will be considered.  She would also be perfect for grandparents who have children in their lives, due to her gentle happy temperament.

Coffee would do wonderfully as your one and only dog if you are around a lot, or with another doggie companion.  She enjoys some play time with the mixed breed small dog she is fostered with and as a former show dog, she has been around dogs her whole life. She is really wonderful with all dogs and all cats.

Coffee  requires daily exercise but a simple walk twice a day would be enough. She will also like dog park if you want or getting together with other dogs would be wonderful for her as well because she so enjoys the social interaction.

Coffee travels well in the car, and actually smiles when she is truly happy.  She loves to be talked to, to be pet, held and lots of fore head kisses combined with a two handed ear rub.  She will wag her tail happily when she knows you are coming to her to give her lots of love and attention!

She is an excellent dog to consider for therapy work as she is so gentle and loves people so much.

Coffee suffers from some arthritis in her hips and some mild dysplasia. This is not much of a problem as she is a calm dog, not an athlete as as such has the hips she needs without problems. She is currently taking glucosamine and a non steriodal anti inflammatory which works great. She is calm and easy going so honestly this is not really an issue. She walks and trots around with ease!  She won't be a running partner, but Coffee is not a runner anyway.  She is a mellow girl who will love daily walks with her family.  Of course like all Labs, Coffee should be on daily glucosamine supplements, and fish oil would also be great for her joints and coat!

Coffee has bee wormed, is up to date on vaccines, spayed, had her teeth cleaned and polished and current on flea control.  Shes's a healthy beautiful girl just waiting for you!

If you think Coffee is the right girl for you, please be sure to send an email to donna@indilabrescue.org

Shalom adopted!

Meet Shalom, the most beautiful, big gorgeous purebred female Lab. She is approx. 2-3 years old and a happy wiggly girl.

Shalom is a stunning beautiful dudley female. That means she has yellow fur (in this case strawberry blond fur!) and a liver nose and eyeliner. She is darn pretty and a show stopper. It's hard for people ot pass by Shalom without commenting on her beauty.

This girl doesn't pull on the leash, but she can pull on the leash if she wants to get to something. In general she walks right with you. We feel pretty sure she has never been on a leash in her life so she is really doing so well!!!

Shalom is very good with all other dogs and especially gentle and good with cats. She pretty much ignores cats.

Shalom is a good girl in the car but getting her in is not alawys easy. She clearly had not been in a care much at all excpet maybe to go to the vet in her former life. Once in the car, she is very nice and quiet.

Shalom loves food and treats. She takes treats pretty eagerly and is not always as gentle as she should be. This plus the fact that she is a big girl may be a concern for families with little ones. She may knock toddlers down and take treats roughtly thuse hurting a child's little hands. Probably better to place her in a home with kids at least age 6.

Shalom came to us with her baby, Cubby 2, a 1 year old dudley purebred male. He is not yet available for adoption. Both dogs came from the Tulare shelter up north and we taken in on their euthanasia day. The puppy is far too attached to his mom and must learn to bond with humans so we have split them aparts for adoption. This allows Shalom to have some freedom which she likes and allows Cubby to bond more with people. When he is not with her, he LOVES people!

Shalom is a medium energy Labrador who can also be quite mellow. But she is still a young dog so she will for sure require her daily exercise. She will settle nicely afterward in the house.

We think Shalom will do fine as an only dog or with another friendly canine companion and do great with cats.

Shalom is spayed, up to date on vaccines and healthy.

If you feel this girl is right for you, please be sure you have completed your application and homecheck and then follow up with an email to donna@indilabrescue.org

Kaiah adopted!

Meet Kaiah, a beautiful purebred female 2 year old Labrador with the most gorgeous luxurious chocolate shiny coat. Kaiah is about 70 lbs and is just a stunningly beautiful Lab.  She has no dewclaws, and a happy temperment.

This little girl is wonderful with all people, children, and other dogs. She gets along beautifully with all other dogs including the 3 dogs she is fostered with - other female labbies and a lab puppy!  Kaiah is a very happy, wiggly, lover girl. She has playful energy, but settles nicely in the house and is housebroken.

Kaiah came to us from a very loving home where she had been since she was a puppy.  Unfortunately her owner came upon some troubling times and could no longer keep her, and we were happy to rescue this girl. She was a loved dog and well taken care of, but very sad her owner could no longer care for her. We promised to find the best forever home for this lovely girl.

Kaiah likes doggie toys and dog bones too in her foster home.  She enjoys playing fetch too!  She can also be found playing with her foster siblings.  She is really the perfect mix of fun & easy! One family will be extremely lucky to adopt this girl.

Kaiah can be found sleeping on the bed, as she spent many comfortable nights with her previous owner there, but we are certain she could be trained not to be on the furniture if that's what you desire.

She has a true Labby temperament - a wiggly, happy girl who is thrilled to meet & greet everyone!

Kaiah has some good training.  She knows her commands of sit, comes when called, and responds well to correction.  She can be a little jumpy when she's excited - so she's learning to stay on all four paws.  Kaiah does tend to pull on leash, so she is best walked on a pinch collar.

Kaiah will do best in a home where she will get daily exercise such as walks, hikes, or fun outings like dog park or dog beach!  She will do fine with children, but keep in mind she is a wiggler and could easily knock a toddler down, so we would prefer to place her in a home with children over age 5.

Kaiah would do great as your one and only girl (provided you are not gone extremely long hours during the week), or she would make a great doggie companion.

She is also a great car rider - hopping right in to enjoy the ride. Although she can be found sitting in your passenger seat - curling right up next to you.

Kaiah is healthy, spayed, up to date on vaccines and ready for her new forever home.  If you think Kaiah is the girl for you, please be sure to complete an application and follow up with an email to indilabgirl@gmail.com

Boomer 2 puppy adopted!

Meet Boomer 2, the 5 month old purebred Lab puppy who is recovering from surgery and is ready for his new home!

Boomer is a little lab puppy of just 5 months. When we found him in a high kill shelter he was suffering from endtropion eyes meaning both eyes had lids and lashes that were turning inward. This is a relatively common defect sometimes found in purebred Labradors and requires surgery to correct it. It is very painful and Boomer had been suffering long enough so we got him out and into surgery the second we were able!!!

The good new is that his eyes are fixed and he is healthy!!! Though his looks pretty pathetic in his photos, this little guy is healing great and will have no scars from this surgery. You won't be able to tell anything we ever done!!! The most important thing is that he is feeling so much better and his days of pain are far behin him.

Boomer is the best puppy. He is so calm and smart and willing to please. He is already housebroken and learning his commands. He is of course wonderful with other dogs and loves cats - after all he is a puppy!

Boomer is looking for a committed puppy forever home. This is a home where someone is around much of the time and where his new family is prepared to provide lots of puppy toys and patience and training! Also at his age, Boomer needs lots of dog park and/or play days with other dogs to continue his socialization.

Boomer is great in the house and sticks to his toys. He is already doing great on the leash too. He also loves the car and is a good boy in the car. He's a great choice for families with cats and kids and he would love to be your one and only or have another friendly canine companion.

This guy is so beautiful and so perfect that we can only imagine his owners could not afford the surgery for his eyes which is how he ended up at the shelter. He is so perfect in every way. We just want this little man to have the best forever home there is.

Boomer is healthy, up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped and his eyelids are surgically repaired and healty without expection of any scarring whatsoever. He must be brought to either our vet in Agora or your approved vet for suture removal.

If you feel that this little wonderful Labrador is right for your family and you have been approved to adopt, please send an email to donna@indilabrescue.org
